I don't know WHY this place would get ANY hate when the chef/owner and workers are so kind and ready to help you have the best food court taco experience. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their chips and I've gotten their tacos many times Come here if you want a happy dining stop!! Ambiance is also a plus :)
Checked out for the first time TAQUERIA EL GRAN AMIGO on the evening of Thursday, August 8, 2024, at around 5:15 PM. Located in Serramonte Mall's food court, all of the food and drink joints in this row are situated in close proximity to the door to one of the sides of the private lot. This said, those who want to go to Serramonte solely for TAQUERIA EL GRAN AMIGO and/or its neighbours, they can quickly reach the restaurant row without the need to walk through the mall. At the time of our visit, the counter area of the taco shoppe was clean and tidy. Mom and I were only looking for a small snack, so we decided to try the Fried Tacos ($3 each). The a la carte items were served fresh out of the fryer, perfectly crispy, with the vegetable accompaniments on the side. With the plate, we were also given a bag of tortilla chips and one each of green and red salsa. Everything was delicious (my mouth is watering as I write this review). Mom did wish that they had removed the toothpicks on the tacos, though. I didn't have any trouble with removing them before eating. I was very pleased with the food that as I walked by El Gran Amigo again, I gave the guy at the counter a thumbs up. Service was quick and friendly. There was a misunderstanding between us and the team member at the counter while we were asking questions and placing our order, but quickly cleared up what we wanted. I will definitely return for more crispy Fried Tacos...and to try their Flautas, TACO SALAD (BOWL), Regular Tacos...the list goes on. TAQUERIA EL GRAN AMIGO has piqued my interest!
It's located in Serramonte's food court, fairly clean. The service is fast and they're very generous with chips and salsa. The carne asada tacos are so yummy! I would say it's worth my $3 given how much topping they give.
Tried their wet burrito for the first time, I got the Al pastor meat. It was so good and so filling. I almost ate the whole thing myself haha it also came with a side of chips and salsa. My boyfriend got the same thing but with Carne Asada, it was also his first time trying a wet burrito and he loved it!
Delicious. Not sure why their reviews are so low: it's good food at a fair price, with well-cooked dishes. We got the shrimp plate and the steak fajita plate, both great. (No pictures because we both cleaned our plates!)
